An ARROW that fell short from the target, maybe be worth it for Toddlers.
By Everglades Photographer
I received this book for free for an honest review and that is what I will give. I know many people have given this book 5 stars and that is their decision, however I cannot even conceive such a notion. I got this book for my 6 yr old and to be honest he was bewildered by it. The book lacks true composition, true organization and/or any form of true proofreading. Whereas this could have been a truly amazing book, I have to ask myself as I ponder "What happened?" This book could have been epic for kids and sadly it fell horribly short.

The places they chose was a great idea, the photos surely didn't pay it the homage it deserved. They lacked description/captions and organization. The writing was tough to read filled with typos, bad spelling and lack of true focus. I cannot even begin to state how disappointed I was with this book. How I wish someone would have taken the time to proofread this book prior to putting it out for review. We expected a real great adventure judging by the book cover and sadly it fell short its mark by a long shot. If only it followed through with an epic book to match the book cover. :(

With that being said, even though I received this book for free I have to be honest, I hate leaving a 3 star review but due to the inconsistencies, errors and lack of organization. I was left with little choice. I believe that Amazon buyers deserve to know the truth even if it is not what they want to hear. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sometimes you have to call it out for what it is, "An Okay Book".

So in conclusion, If my review was helpful to you, please click that it was helpful and feel free to contact me directly with any question and/or inquiries. I would do my best to answer your question to my best ability.

Thanks George

Like my other eBooks

This eBook is okay. It contains 48 pages with about half of them dedicated to photos, and the other half use for descriptions about the places that they are talking about.

Like my other eBooks, I present these on a large 70 in screen to children, or at home with my 8 year old son on a computer. The photos, as usual, are high quality. I believe that they are from stock photo libraries (which I have no problem with--books like this are a perfect example of how stock photos can be used effectively, in my opinion). My students and son (read to separately) enjoyed the photos. They actually had no problems with them or the descriptions. By the way, I read the text to my students, but my son is old enough to read the text himself. Very simple, probably good beginning learning for a 1st grader, if not early 2nd grader. Only a few hard names that he might have seen for the first time (like Beijing) but on overall great educational experience.

As an adult, I didn't really like the focus of this book, which I felt had little. They talked about China first, which featured photos of buildings and water, and then went to Egypt, and then in the middle they talked about oceans featuring photos of penguins and sharks. They passed through a savannah, and then ended up with some bikers trekking up a mountain said and then mountain climbing! I feel that they should have spent a little more time and focused on even more locations for children or categorized locations maybe by continent or the "wonders" of the world. Each location took up up to 8 pages. I think the book could have focused maybe half as many pages per location. Because of this I took off one star (which seemed to be the general consensus of all of the other adults read this book to our children as well).

Kids who learn about the world and the places and people in it at a young age are more likely to be open to other cultures and races, as well as more likely to travel. A book about adventure places around the world also helps promote positive mental and physical elements, such as imagination, creativity, out-of-the-box thinking and even athleticism.

This is an okay book; good photography and may be interesting for children

The idea of this book is really good but I found the actual book a little off. I ordered the Kindle version and the places around the world are really random. The order is off, too. It seems sometimes a more factual page was after pictures of that particular place and other times the facts were before. There doesn't seem to be a theme, which I guess is good at illustrating the diversity of the world. Some places are depicted with photographs of the ocean or animals and other places are of people mountain hiking. It would be better if there was some continuity like maybe all animals or all activities people do or both but for all places visited in the book. In something like this I would like to see more compare and contrast pictures.

The Kindle edition shows it's 52 pages in length. The photographs are good and some of the facts are interesting. Whenever there is a free or cheap Kindle version of something I always think it's helpful to view the Kindle edition before buying the book. The pictures are better to look at through a smart phone, tab, or laptop but wouldn't be as good in a Kindle that only displays on a grey scale. FYI, you do not need to own a Kindle Reader to read Kindle editions. I have a Paperwhite Kindle Reader and LOVE it and highly recommend it, but you can also download the free Kindle app to smart phones, tablets, laptops or desktops.

I received this item for free in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.
